Sarah Boone: invented the ironing board (U.S. Patent #473,653)  
1888 Granville Woods: He developed and patented a system for overhead electric  conducting lines for railroads. His  system was used in Chicago, St. Louis, and New York City railroads.

J. L. Love: Invented a Pencil Sharpener (U.S. Patent # 594,114)

1899 G. F. Grant: Invented the golf tee. (U.S. Patent # 638,920)

1905 Madame CJ Walker:  Her real name was Sarah Breedlove and she developed a conditioning treatment for straightening hair. She became one of the first American women of any race or rank to become a millionaire.

1912 Garrett Morgan: His invention, the gas mask, was used during World War I to protect soldiers from chlorine gas fumes.

1923 Garrett Morgan: He invented the traffic signal to regulate vehicle movement in city areas.

1938
Charles Drew: He developed the blood  bank and became the first director of the  American Red Cross blood bank.

1989 Philip Emeagwali: This Nigerian born programmer invented supercomputing software that created the fastest computation in the world
